We are remodeling Suite 302 for our rheumatology specialists. Until remodeling is complete, Dr Wright will be in Suite 401.

Dr. Wright's home is Amarillo, and he is a graduate of Tascosa High School. He attended Rice University and the University of Texas before graduating from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.

While at UT Medical Branch, Dr. Wright was selected for the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Election to Alpha Omega Alpha is an honor signifying a lasting commitment to scholarship, leadership, professionalism, and service. A lifelong honor, membership in the society confers recognition for a physician's dedication to the profession and art of healing.

He completed an Internal Medicine residency at Baylor Medical School in Houston, and is board certified in Internal Medicine. Dr Wright then was a Fellow in Rheumology at the University of Texas at Houston prior to establishing his practice in Amarillo.

Dr. Wright comes from a long tradition of Amarillo physicians; both his father and grandfather have been prominent in the Amarillo medical community over the last 50 years.

Rheumatology is the diagnosis, treatment, and management of arthritis and related diseases. These health problems affect the joints, muscles, bones and sometimes other internal organs (e.g., kidneys, lungs, blood vessels, brain). Because these diseases are often complex, they benefit from the care of an expert in this field of medicine.

The rheumatologist works with the patient and family, gives health information, and collaborates with other health care providers. A rheumatologist aims to help patients with rheumatic disease to have the best possible quality of life.
