Women's Health / Gynecology

Gynecology is the branch of medicine dealing with health care for women, especially the diagnosis and treatment of disorders affecting the female reproductive organs. This includes family planning, treatment of menstrual problems, infections, bladder problems, and associated issues.

Gynecologists often provide primary health care for all women’s health problems. Services typically provided are routine pelvic exams & pap smears, family planning / birth control, and evaluation of menstrual problems, pelvic pain, pelvic tumors and pelvic infections.

Gynecologists are trained in all modalities for the treatment of women's health problems, including surgery if necessary. Surgical procedures typically performed by gynecologists include hysterectomy, endometrial ablation, cancer surgery of the female organs, bladder suspension, diagnostic aspiration of breast lumps, and treatment of pre-cancerous cervical dysplasia.

Internal Medicine is the branch of medicine that deals with the diagnosis and nonsurgical treatment of diseases affecting the internal organs of the body, especially in adults
