Dr. Usala joined AMS in 1996 coming from a tenured faculty position at East Carolina University School of Medicine. Dr. Usala was trained at the prestigious National Institutes of Health, and was the recipient of the Van Meter Award from the American Thyroid Association in 1995. Dr. Usala specializes in diagnosis and treatment of diseases involving the endocrine organs. This includes thyroid diseases such as Graves' Disease, hypothyroidism, and thyroid cancer, diabetes, pituitary diseases, and adrenal gland problems.
