Lawrence Schaeffer, MD

Neurology

Dr. Schaeffer is board-certified in both neurology (since 1993) and internal medicine (since 1987). He currently has a limited practice focused on neurodiagnostic studies, including nerve conduction studies (NCS) and electromyography (EMG) for evaluation of peripheral nerve entrapments and related disorders and spinal radiculopathies.

He earned his medical degree from Anahuac University (University of the State of Mexico) and completed internships in Internal Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, and Obstetrics and Gynecology in Mexico City. Dr. Schaeffer went on to complete his Internal Medicine residency at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in El Paso, Texas, and a Neurology residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas.

Dr. Schaeffer has served the Amarillo community since 1997, providing care in his office and consulting at Baptist St. Anthony's Hospital and Northwest Texas Hospital.

Fluent in English and Spanish, Dr. Schaeffer is dedicated to providing compassionate, expert neurological care in an accessible and welcoming environment.  He sees patients by referral only.
