Daniela Ghetie, MD

Dr (Elena) Daniela Ghetie is a board-certified rheumatologist with over two decades of experience in internal medicine and rheumatology. She earned her medical degree from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Carol Davila” in Bucharest, Romania, in 2002, where she also completed a residency in rheumatology. After relocating to the United States with her family, Dr. Ghetie completed her internal medicine residency at Danbury Hospital in Danbury, Connecticut, followed by a fellowship in rheumatology at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) in Portland, Oregon.
Dr. Ghetie served as Assistant Professor of Medicine at OHSU, where her clinical and research work focused on complex, multisystem autoimmune diseases and multidisciplinary care models. She was the Director of the OHSU Vasculitis Center from 2020 to 2025 and Co-Director of the OHSU Myositis Center from 2016 to 2025. She was also an attending rheumatologist in the Multidisciplinary Interstitial Lung Disease and Sarcoidosis Collaborative Center.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Ghetie has been actively involved in medical education and clinical research. She has served as both principal investigator and sub-investigator in numerous clinical trials and has taught medical students, residents, and rheumatology fellows throughout her academic career.
In July 2025, Dr. Ghetie joined Amarillo Medical Specialists, where she is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. She aims to establish a regional center of excellence for myositis and vasculitis and to continue her clinical research in these complex conditions.
Outside of her medical practice, Dr. Ghetie enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, traveling, and embracing the traditions and culture of Texas.
